Sorry, that reference had to be made. There’s so much banana goodness going on here, plus I used to listen to Hollaback Girl all the time in like 8th grade and thought I was so rebellious for “cursing” with the lyrics. Ha. Moving on…

I think if the category “most fun food in all the land,” existed in a dictionary, doughnuts would have to take it. As a cake/cupcake fanatic myself, there’s something about doughnuts that is just so playful, nostalgic and downright fun!

On the rare occasion that we had doughnuts when I was little, I was a chocolate frosted with sprinkles ALL THE WAY. When we got them it was a big treat – my mom couldn’t resist when the “hot” sign was on at Krispy Kreme. She’s still a doughnut lover, and I’m guessing she’ll love these. They have the added perk of being polar opposites from an actual Krispy Kreme when it comes to health!

Unlike the chocolate frosted doughnuts of my childhood, I now prefer doughnuts that won’t turn my body into a big fat doughnut. So I bake my own! A banana bread version was kind of a no brainer since I have a well documented and intense love for banana bread. Plus, I had tons of my most favorite fruit that were threatening to turn into big brown squishy homes for pesky fruit flies. I acted quickly and voila! Healthy, vegan banana bread doughnuts.

These baked doughnuts, like all my other doughnut recipes, are healthy and so easy to whip together. You can be having soft, fluffy doughnuts in about 20 minutes! The base of the batter is just oat flour for some fiber and healthy, complex carbs and super ripe bananas.

These vegan banana bread doughnuts are soft, fluffy, slightly chewy from the oats, and so perfectly sweet from the ripe bananas. I drizzled/dipped a few in a super simply chocolate sauce for that awesome banana and chocolate flavor combo. A fun, doughnut-y take on my favorite banana bread!

Vegan Banana Bread Doughnuts

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 6 doughnuts


  • 1 1/2 c oat flour
  • 1 c mashed bananas (I used 2 large ripe bananas)
  • 1 c almond milk
  • Cinnamon


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine oat flour, bananas, almond milk, and cinnamon and stir to combine.
  3. Pour batter into doughnut pan that's nonstick, or spray lightly with coconut oil spray.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes, let the doughnuts cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before turning out.
