Have you guys ever seen all the photos of dreamy oatmeal bowls on IG? I often find myself scrolling and/or drooling, because I get a lot of oatmeal pictures on my feed. Not mad about it. The IG algorithm must be on point, and sense my oat obsession. I eat oats literally every single day, and cannot say enough about how much I love them! Both for their flavor and their nutritional benefits.
They’re the perfect satisfying breakfast or lunch, whether you feel like baking them, or go the overnight route for meal prep – I do that every week! There’s a ton of different options to prep oats, but my favorite is the simple oatmeal bowl. Whether it’s the classic with plenty of fruit on top, chocolate + strawberry for a fruity, chocolatey pairing, or chunky monkey for some nutty vibes, they never disappoint.
I’m always left feeling full and satiated, but never heavy or weighed down. Oats give me amazing energy to power through my day, which is why I don’t go a day without them! Plus, they’re just delicious AF. Eloquent, I know, but I’m not sure how else to get the message across at this point! Basically, if you don’t eat oats on a regular basis, you need to get on it.
This vegan double chocolate oatmeal bowl is absolutely exploding with deep, rich, chocolate flavor. I wouldn’t eat this for breakfast every morning, of course. But some days that you just want some damn chocolate, and this is the bowl for those days!
Plus, while I don’t recommend downing entire bars of chocolate on a regular basis, I incorporate raw cacao powder into my diet in some form every day, usually in oats, but often in smoothie bowls, too. The difference between raw cacao and more common cocoa powder is that raw cacao is not roasted, therefore it maintains the incredible antioxidants. It’s also a great plant-based source of iron and magnesium, and all of this hasn’t even mentioned that the flavor is bomb. It’s super rich, and has that quintessential slightly bitter flavor that you know and when it comes to dark chocolate.
To make this oatmeal bowl, mix your oats, cacao, stevia, and flax, heat the water, pour over the oats, and let them sit to get nice and puffy and thick. 30 minute at least is ideal, but I often let them sit even longer. My favorite thing to do is prep them before my workout, then I’m ready to eat about an hour and a half later and they’re absolutely perfect!
Top your vegan double chocolate oatmeal bowl with a few vegan chocolate chips, and you’re ready! If you’re really feeling fancy, melt the chips instead and drizzle it over, then revel in the fact that you’re living your best life and eating chocolate for breakfast.
