Vegan Smoothie Bowl

A basic but super satisfying vegan smoothie bowl. Go crazy with the toppings or keep it simple, this creamy dreaminess will keep you full for hours! Vegan, naturally sweetened, gluten free.

Tomorrow is FriYAY! Excited for a relaxed weekend at home after going to Michigan last weekend to get my Insanity LIVE certification. Still so excited!! Time to celebrate with a vegan smoothie bowl.

This would be the perfect pre OR post workout snack. If you haven’t seen/heard of the smoothie bowl, welcome to earth! They’ve exploded with popularity all over pinterest and beyond, and for good reason. Smoothie bowls are an awesome way to pack in nutrients you may not get otherwise, and it’s just fun to come up with topping combinations/patterns to make it look pretty, no!? For my vegan smoothie bowls I always use frozen bananas as the base (nice cream, anyone??). I add in one other fruit, typically strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries, and blend all that with almond milk. Today I’m showing you my super basic bowl base that’s SUPER customizable to your tastes.

Once you’ve got your smoothie base ready, it’s time to top away!! For this bowl I went with more strawberries, since that’s what I used in the smoothie base. I then added some chia seeds, raisins, walnuts, and unsweetened coconut flakes. You can literally use WHATEVER you have and whatever sounds good to you!

Also feel free to change up/add to the base – smoothie bowl recipes are super easy, you just blend to the consistency you want. If it’s too thick and won’t blend, add more liquid. If it’s way too runny, throw in some protein powder or cocoa powder. Add spinach/kale for mega health benefits you won’t even notice are there! OR if you’re really in it to win it, add a tablespoon of almond or peanut butter. Yes.

Vegan Smoothie Bowl

Yield: 1 smoothie bowl


  • 1-2 frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries (any berry will work)
  • Optional: handful of spinach, flaxmeal, dates for additional sweetness
  • Toppings: unsweetened coconut, chia seeds, oats, nuts, granola, fresh fruit


  1. Blend the frozen bananas, strawberries, spinach, and flaxmeal until everything is combined
  2. Pour into a bowl and go crazy with toppings!
